ABA calls the Outsourcing trend Salutary
In the Ethics opinion, 08-451 on August 25th 2008, ABA endorsed outsourcing and called the Outsourcing trend, a salutary for the globalized economy. ABA's comments give further credence to the growing trend of outsourcing legal work to India. The opinion also advices lawyers looking at outsourcing to evaluate the quality and character of the employees likely to have access to client information. The opinion further vindicates the stance of the LPO industry which has been educating law firms and corporations about the benefits that can accrue, when off shoring legal work. This also comes at a time when many observers have predicted that the US legal market is slowly moving on the lines of the UK Legal market, where legal services have already been commoditized. Only time will tell, how the market evolves, but ABA's opinion has truly shown that Legal outsourcing is here to stay.
